Renovation of a Georgian Townhouse in Edinburgh’s West End
Jones Robbins Tobin undertook the renovation and extension of this Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh’s West End, delivering a sensitive contemporary response tailored to the needs of a growing family.
The project balances careful restoration with measured intervention. Original stonework, proportions and period features have been retained and enhanced, preserving the architectural character of the house. New extensions are expressed in a refined contemporary language, reinterpreting stone through disciplined detailing and modern forms that sit confidently alongside the traditional fabric.
Internally, the plan has been rationalised to improve flow, light and everyday functionality, creating calm, adaptable living spaces while maintaining a strong connection to the building’s heritage.
