Gareth
Director

Before co-founding Jones Robbins Tobin, Gareth developed his experience within an award-winning Edinburgh practice, delivering high-end contemporary homes and complex residential projects. A graduate of Cardiff, he brings creative clarity and technical precision to the studio, with a particular interest in materiality, craftsmanship and the careful resolution of detail.
Outside the studio, Gareth continues to design and build at a personal scale, having created his own homes and crafted bespoke furniture and interior elements himself. He values time spent exercising and enjoying family life, drawing inspiration from the balance between thoughtful design and everyday living.
Daryl
Director

Before co-founding Jones Robbins Tobin, Daryl worked with award-winning practices in Edinburgh and Stroud, where his passion for thoughtful, innovative residential design first took root. A graduate of Cardiff University, he brings process-driven rigour and a strong interest in spatial planning, balancing creativity with technical clarity and real-world constraints.
Outside the studio, Daryl is an accomplished endurance athlete, having completed six marathons alongside a range of hybrid and long-distance events. He is also a committed fundraiser for the housing charity Shelter, reflecting his belief in the social value of well-considered architecture and its power to enrich everyday life.
Brian
Director

Brian graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First-Class degree in Architecture and brings over 20 years of professional experience to Jones Robbins Tobin. Originally from Ireland and the son of a builder, he developed an early understanding of craft and construction that continues to shape his approach today.
He has delivered award-winning projects across a wide range of scales, from carefully crafted residential extensions to major cultural buildings. Brian is passionate about architecture that enriches lives: creating enduring, thoughtful spaces rooted in material honesty, proportion and long-term performance.
Tom
Associate / Technologist

Before joining Jones Robbins Tobin, Tom worked on a wide range of residential and commercial projects across Scotland. His experience on extensive country estate projects throughout the Highlands deepened his understanding of traditional building methods and environmental design.
He has since delivered numerous new build homes across central Scotland, guided by a strong commitment to low-energy and environmentally responsible architecture. A qualified Passive House Designer, Tom brings a rigorous understanding of building performance, combining heritage knowledge with modern techniques to support sustainable, carefully considered homes.
John
Architect

John brings a strong foundation in architectural technology, combining creative vision with technical precision across all projects at Jones Robbins Tobin. Having worked with established practices in Edinburgh, he has contributed to a diverse range of residential and commercial projects both locally and internationally.
His approach centres on interpreting the client brief with clarity and care, integrating technical compliance and buildability from the outset. By balancing design ambition with practical understanding, John helps deliver architecture that is refined, contextually responsive and responsibly realised.
Zach
Architectural Assistant

Zach joined Jones Robbins Tobin in 2025 after graduating with a Master’s degree with Distinction from the University of Strathclyde. He is particularly passionate about working with existing buildings, drawing from their history and character to inform thoughtful contemporary interventions.
In 2024, he was awarded second prize in the Alexander Thomson Scholarship, recognising his design talent and critical thinking. Outside architecture, Zach enjoys film photography, travel and cinema, interests that continue to inform his appreciation of composition, narrative and atmosphere in design.
Jonathan
Architectural Assistant

Jonathan is a Part 2 Architectural Assistant currently undertaking his Part 3 studies at the University of Newcastle. Having worked with practices in Edinburgh and Stonehaven, he has developed a strong interest in high-quality domestic architecture and the craft of well-considered homes.
Jonathan completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. His enjoyment of hands-on making and DIY projects informs his appreciation for detail and buildability within Jones Robbins Tobin. Outside the studio, he enjoys travelling, cooking and volunteering with young people at summer camps.
Cheryl
Social Media Consultant

Cheryl joined Jones Robbins Tobin in 2022 to lead the studio’s social media and digital presence. With more than 20 years’ experience across the art and retail industries, she brings a strong visual sensibility and strategic understanding of brand communication.
Alongside her role at the practice, Cheryl runs a successful illustration and product design business. Her keen eye for detail and thoughtful approach to storytelling ensure the studio’s work is communicated with clarity and consistency, making her a valued member of the wider team.
