Reimagining a Double Upper Flat in Murrayfield, Edinburgh
Jones Robbins Tobin reimagined this double upper flat in Murrayfield, Edinburgh, introducing a series of carefully integrated rear and west-facing additions to transform the quality of light, space and connection to the garden.
Working within the constraints of the existing structure, the design introduces new volumes articulated in stone, timber and full-height glazing. These elements extend the architectural language of the building while clearly expressing a contemporary intervention. The additions draw natural light deep into the plan and establish a fluid, open arrangement of living spaces oriented toward the garden.
Internally, the layout has been rationalised to create a generous, cohesive home, where kitchen, dining and living areas unfold as a continuous sequence. The result is a calm and materially grounded interior that strengthens the relationship between house and landscape, adding a confident new layer to the existing fabric.
