Lomond Road

Lomond Road | Trinity, Edinburgh

The project Lomond Road is based in the heart of the Trinity Conservation area. Works to the detached dwelling involved the introduction of a single storey linear extension to the rear of the house, that knits into the stone fabric of the existing dwelling. The vision for the project was to extend the property to provide a direct connection to the rear garden, while providing open plan living spaces for contemporary family life. A roof light extends the full elevation, providing a light filled connection between old and new. Within the existing building, the original features have been faithfully retained and restored sitting in perfect harmony with the new additions.

The memory of the previous outbuildings has been retained through the reuse of the existing sandstone walls to the sides of the new extension. Polite alterations have been made to the garage façade and external gate at the front of the property, with a single storey plant room gym wrapping around to the new open plan living spaces to the rear.
